Bowen Therapy
Gentle Moves for Profound Healing Bowen Therapy is a gentle, holistic bodywork technique that helps release tension, alleviate pain, and support the body's natural ability to heal. Developed by Australian Tom Bowen, this therapy uses small, precises movements over muscles, tendons, and connective tissue to stimulate the body's innate healing response. It is suitable for all ages and is known for its calming yet powerful effects. |
What to Expect During a Session
1. Initial Consultation
2. Treatment Process
3. Focus Areas
- Your session begins with a brief discussion about your health history, the issues you'd like to address, and may include some range of motion tests or demonstration of any restrictions you are experiencing. This helps us tailor the treatment to your specific needs, and observe any changes experienced.
2. Treatment Process
- We will leave the room for a moment, to allow you to undress to your underwear, lie on the comfortable treatment table (or options to sit if lying down isn't possible), and cover yourself with provided towels or sheets.
- You will be draped respectfully throughout the session, with only areas being worked on exposed for a moment.
- In some cases, or if you feel more comfortable, you may remain fully clothed during the session. Just wear light comfortable clothing. We will just ask you to remove shoes or belts for comfort.
- Gentle rolling movements will be applied over specific points on your body, with short pauses in between to allow the fascia and body to process and respond.
3. Focus Areas
- Key areas treated include the back, neck, shoulders, hips, and legs, though adjustments can be made based on your specific needs.
- Bowen Therapy can address physical, emotional, and energetic imbalances, making it a holistic experience.

Aftercare Recommendations
1. Hydration:
Drink more water than normal to support the body's detox process.
2. Movement: Gentle walking or light activity on even surfaces can help integrate the session's effects. For TMJ work, avoid chewing hard foods like apples or steak as it will strain the fascia that has been worked on.
3. Rest: Allow your body time to relax and heal - avoid strenuous activities or exercise for 24-48 hours.
4. Listen to your Body: Pay attention to how you feel, and avoid overexertion.
